This morning, I was visited by a beautiful bluebird that posed on a wire for me, and a broody, punky-looking cedar waxwing that wouldn’t give me the time of day.

Wanting to bookend the day with some bird photos, I decided to drop by General Vallejo’s Home Sonoma State Historic Park to shoot some late-afternoon/early-evening avians.

I got there just in time to snap a western bluebird basking in the waning western sunlight:

And an Anna’s Hummingbird scoping for its end-of-the-day meals:

And a starling singing out for the sun to come back:

As the light faded, I turned around to leave. Unexpectedly, a noticed a full moon had popped up behind me.

Didn’t spot any werewolves though. They would’ve been fun to photograph. Alas, maybe next time.
